Gazelles guard Paige Robinson scored a game-high 26 points as Uganda won its first trial game of the practising camp in Germany.
Uganda secured an 82-69 victory against Ireland in a trial game at Speiterlinghalle im Dietlingen on Sunday evening.
Uganda started slow trailing by eight points (09-17) at the end of the first stanza in the end-to-end action.
In the second quarter, Uganda stepped up to the occasion, thus bouncing back into the game as he created a three-point (32-29) lead going into the long break.
Coming from the locker rooms, Uganda kept the foot on the gas pedal as they opened a 13-point (58-43) lead at the end of the third quarter.
In the final stanza of the game, it was one-way traffic as Goran Lojo’s charges secured a 39-point victory on the day.
Robinson (26), Jane Asinde (20), and Lesije Vorphal (10) scored double digits for the Gazelles.
On the other hand, Claire Melia (25) was the only player with double digits for Ireland.
Goran was impressed with the turnaround in the game after starting the game on a slow note.
“We were a little bit nervous at the start. It is my first game coaching this team while several girls are playing on the national team for the first time. So it is normal, but the second quarter was better,” the gaffer stated after the game.
” The third quarter was even better as we totally turned around the game. The top players today were Paige Robinson and Jane Asinde while the rest of the girls did their job,” he added.
