Ugandan sprinter Tarsis Orogot did not progress to the final of the Men’s 200m final at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.

Orogot was sixth in his heat with a time of 20.64 at Stade de France.

The heat was won by US’ Kenny Bednarek with 20.00. Dominican Republic’s Alexander Ogando Bautista came second (20.09).

De Grasse from Canada finished third (20.41) and South African Maswanganyi (20.42) came fourth.

In heat two; Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo won heat two with 19.96. The two other athletes who qualified from this heat were USA’s Noah Lyles (20.08) and Zimbabwe’s Makanakaishe Charamba (20.31).

Uganda has not had a male sprinter at the Olympics since bronze medalist Davis Kamoga at Atlanta 1996.

At the current games, Uganda has so far earned two medals; a gold medal in 10,000m (men) for Joshua Cheptegei and a silver medal in the Women’s 3000m steeplechase for Peruth Chemutai.
