Bobi Wine who’s also the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has graduated with a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Cavendish University.
Bobi Wine shared his story in a social media post, detailing how he began his law studies in August 2016 at the International University of East Africa (IUEA).
I couldn’t have made it without the assistance and encouragement from my friends and family, and there is no better time to salute them than now.
He expressed deep gratitude to several key supporters. Sylver Kyagulanyi, a longtime friend, had encouraged him to pursue law for over two decades.
Dear Sylver Kyagulanyi, we discussed this idea of going to law school as far back as 20 years ago while still at the MDD department at Makerere.
Don Sheriff, a fellow student, provided assistance and shared Bobi Wine’s passion for justice.
It’s this course that brought us together only for us to realize that we shared much more than just being law students but the passion for freedom and justice.
David Lewis Rubongoya, who taught his first Constitutional Law lecture, advised him to transfer to Cavendish University.
Bobi Wine also faced challenges during his studies. He was initially unable to graduate last year due to missing lectures in one course unit, requiring an additional semester.
Furthermore, when news of his graduation plans emerged, detractors attempted to prevent his progress by petitioning the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
I don’t know if any other Ugandan student has been subjected to this before.
Bobi Wine credited his wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi, for her relentless support and encouragement, which kept him motivated.
Only you know how many times I came close to giving up. Thank you for always keeping me encouraged and nourished.
He also thanked his teachers and fellow students, acknowledging the challenges they presented as valuable lessons.
He dedicated his achievement to the Ghetto People, urging them to pursue their dreams regardless of obstacles.
Let today inspire you to know that you’re never too late to pursue your dreams and achieve them.
He also honoured his late mother, expressing confidence that she would be proud of his accomplishment. Finally, he expressed his gratitude to God for guiding him through every challenge, affirming, “God is great!”
