Express target back-to-back wins as they visit Police FC

Thursday, October 2
*Police Vs Express – Kamwokya, 4pm
*URA Vs NEC – Nakivubo, 7pm

Express FC will be aiming to maintain their perfect start to the new Uganda Premier League season when they visit Police FC at the Kiira Road ground in Kamwokya.

The Red Eagles began their campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over UPDF FC at Nakivubo, courtesy of a goal from new signing Herbert Assiimwe.

Coach Badru Kaddu will be encouraged by the depth of his squad, with only youngster Lagoro Jimmy unavailable as he attends school.

Kaddu, who faces a challenging season at the helm, will continue to rely on his new recruits including Assiimwe, goalkeeper Ali Mwirusi, and Peter Onzima among others.

Hosts Police FC are still in search of their first victory of the season after settling for a 1-1 draw against Mbarara City in their opener at the same venue.

The fixture carries added intrigue as coach Matia Lule comes up against Express, a side he previously managed in 2016.

Midfielder Saidi Kyeyune is also set for a reunion with his former club after switching to Police, where he joins fellow additions Benon Tahomera, Stephen Namaisi, Richard Matovu, and Lawrence Tezikya.

New signing Derrick Maviri, recruited from Buhimba United Saints, is unlikely to feature as he awaits clearance for a league license.

Last season, the two sides played out a 2-2 draw in Kavumba before Police edged Express 2-1 at Nakivubo, results that underline the potential for another closely contested encounter.
