Derby of Forces ends in stalemate with late goals

Maroons FC and UPDF FC settled for a point apiece as the two teams faced off in their first game of the new season on Sunday.

Dubbed the derby of forces, the closely contested encounter played at Luzira Prisons Ground ended in a one-all.

The two goals in the game came very late with Jackson Nunda and Zzinda Hussein scoring for Maroons and UPDF FC respectively.

Nunda broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute when with his well struck effort finding the back of the net.

However, UPDF FC responded in the 89th minute with Zzinda scoring from a rebound after Samson Kigozi’s initial effort was parried by goalkeeper Hassan Matovu.

Maroons will now shift focus to Wakiso Giants who they will host on Friday, September 20, while UPDF FC will be at home to new comers Lugazi FC at the Bombo Barracks Military Ground on Thursday.
