Denis Omedi and Rogers Mato wonder goals secured a draw away to Bafana Bafana as Uganda began the 2025 Afcon qualifiers campaign with a point.

The visitors took a surprised lead in the second half after being outplayed in the first stanza and nearly took all three points until the second last minute of additional time.

Here is how they rated on the day at the Orlando stadium.

Isma Watenga 7.0: He kept Uganda in the game in the first half when South Africa was on top of the game. Had little to do with the goals conceded.

Elvis Bwomono 4.0: A difficult evening against Apollis in the first half and later Mafokeng midway the second half. Could have done better to stop the Bafana Bafana number 10 in the lead up to the second goal.

Aziz Kayondo 7.0: Uganda’s best on field player. Defended resolutely for the entire game and also had a few decent moves going forward. Never gave up

Elio Capradossi 5.0: Beaten by a good pass for the first goal and failed to live up to the speed of Bafana Bafana forwards in the first half but improved after the break.

Bevis Mugabi 5.0: Neutralized threats in the air especially after the break but like most of his teammates, he suffered in the first.

Khalid Aucho 6.0: Made some important blocks and interceptions to stop the rampant hosts’ attacks especially after the break.

Ronald Ssekiganda 5.0: Awful and off the pace for most parts of the game but made a good intervention with a high press that resulted into creating Denis Omedi goal.

Travis Mutyaba 4.0: He was into oblivion for the entire time on the pitch and rightfully withdrawn at halftime. Didn’t look match fit.

Denis Omedi 6.0: He got the goal that got the Cranes back in the game and gave everyone belief. Kindly in the form of his life.

Rogers Mato 6.0: A torrid time against Mudau but scored a good goal from a speculative shot to give Uganda the lead.

Steven Mukwala 5.0: Worked his socks off against the big centre backs despite having little or no supply at all.

Substitutes

Allan Okello 6.0: His introduction gave the Cranes a new dimension as helping the team hold on to possession which was nowhere in the first half.

Joachim Ojera 4.0: Replaced Mukwala but rarely impacted the game.

Joseph Ochaya 4.0: Rarely touched the ball when he came on but added numbers at left back where Bafana Bafana were flying.
