The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers got underway on Wednesday with stalemates dominating as three of the four matches played ended in share spoils.

In Group A, Comoros and Gambia played to a 1-1 draw and the same score line was registered in the Group D fixture between Libya and Rwanda in Tripoli.

The Cecafa regional derby between Tanzania and Ethiopia in Group H ended in a goalless draw.

One-time Afcon winners Sudan were the only winners on the day seeing off Niger 1-0 to move top of group F.

Action in the qualifiers continues on Thursday with seven matches on card including a group K clash between Congo and South Sudan in Brazzaville.

The two nations are in the same pool with Uganda Cranes who visit South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Friday.

Elsewhere, Malawi host Burundi, CAR are at home to Lesotho, Ghana and Angola lock horns while Eswatini host Guinea Bissau.

2019 Africa Cup winners Algeria host Equatorial Guinea and Tunisia play away to Madagascar.

The top two teams in each group qualify for the edition to be played in Morocco next year in December until January 2026.
