22 goals scored on opening match day at 2024 Olympics | Men’s Football

• Iraq 2-1 Ukraine
• Japan 5-0 Paraguay

10:00 PM:

• France 3-0 United States of America (USA)
• Mali 1-1 Israel

A total of 22 goals were scored during the opening match day of men’s football at the 2024 Olympics in France.

Japan’s 5-0 humiliation of 10-man Paraguay in group D produced the most goals in all the games played on Wednesday, 24^th July 2024.

Shunsuke Mito and Shota Fujio each scored a brace with Rihito Yamamoto scoring the other for a dominant Japanese side past goalkeeper Roberto Gatito before 14,000 fans at the Matmut Atlantique stadium.

French referee Francois Letexier sent off Paraguay’s winger Wilder Viera as early as the 25^th minute for unsporting character.

The other group D contest between Mali and Israel ended 1-goal apiece at Parc de Princes stadium during a contest handled by Campbell Kirk Waugh from New Zealand.

Hamidou Diallo scored an own goal past his goalkeeper Lassine Diarra to give Israel the lead on 56^th minutes.

On Thursday, 25th July 2024, women football will officially kick off.

Football and Rugby 7’s kicked off on 24^th Wednesday 2024 with handball and archery following suit on the next day.

Different venues are lined up to have the football matches as the Bordeaux Stadium, Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium, La Beaujoire Stadium, Lyon Stadium, Marseille Stadium, Nice Stadium and Parc de Princes (finals).

Football matches will climax on 10^th August 2024.

At this year’s Olympic Games, Uganda is represented in Swimming, Rowing, Cycling and Athletics.

The official opening ceremony is on Friday, 26^th July 2024.
