Nigerian sensational musician and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi is on special visit to Uganda courtesy of Chop Gaming Uganda.
Mr Eazi officially unveiled a staggering offer for Ugandan professional boxer Isaac Zebra Ssenyange Junior to refurbish a state-of-art boxing gym in the slums of Bwaise, a suburb of Kampala city.
The international musician jumped over the trade-mark stinking trenches and gutters of Bwaise as he visited the current site of the Zebra Boxing club
At the site, he was accompanied by the Managing Director of Chop Gaming Uganda Allan Tumushabe and other officials as they addressed the media.
Mr. Eazi and Chop Gaming Uganda officials presented a dummy cheque with the inscriptions “Support to the refurbishment of Zebra Boxing Community Gym, Uganda”.
“I was born in the Ghettos. Super stars are in the Ghettos and this is the reason why I am here (Bwaise).” the Nigerian singer, songwriter and record executive stated.
“We want to use entertainment to lift up the Ghettos. This is through music and sports where boxing is definitely part and parcel. There is too much talent in the Ghettos and we want to promote these local talents” Mr Eazi added.
With this support from Chop Gaming, under Mr Eazi’s leadership, the boxing gym is set for refurbishment, offering renewed hope for its completion and the continuation of Zebra’s legacy.
“We have a commitment to support boxing in Uganda. We are here to break ground and show that we are resilient” Tumushabe noted.
Through Mr Eazi’s support, Zebra Boxing Club will empower the community and provide a safe space for young boxers to develop their skills, build confidence, and foster resilience.
The refurbished gym will be set to the expected international standard with modern equipment.
For starters, Mr. Eazi has rendered his support to similar initiatives in Accra, Ghana, and Cameroon.
In Accra, he was instrumental in the renovation of the Bronxy Boxing Gym, a facility renowned for training and producing some of Ghana’s finest boxers.
He oversaw the complete refurbishment and modernization of the facility, equipping it with state-of-the-art equipment to elevate it to the international standards.
This initiative significantly boosted the facility’s capacity to train and produce worldclass athletes and provided a substantial upgrade to the local boxing infrastructure.
Mr Eazi has also sponsored sports teams such as Rayon Sports Football Club in Rwanda and Sporting Lagos in Nigeria.
He also endorsed athletes like Stephane Fondjo, the WBC Asia and Middle East Super Middleweight Champion, and Maxwell Djantou, a globally recognized Sambo champion who is now progressing in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
I am very happy for the offer from Mr. Eazi. This donation will definitely change the lives of many in Uganda’s boxing fraternity. This Gym will surely serve the talents as we discover many more so that we also uplift the legacy of Zebra Mando Ssenyange Senior. Isaac Zebra Mando Ssenyange Junior, Professional boxer
