Wakiso Giants have bolstered their defensive options by signing Young Africans defender Shaibu Mtita on a season long loan until end of 2024/25 season.

Mtita, a product of the Young Africans academy becomes the fifth signing for the Purple Sharks after Hudson Mbalire, Zambian Erick Kabamba, Derrick Kaija and Vincent Zziwa.

The lanky intelligent centre back will compete for a slot in the starting team with Ambrose Arinda, Angolan Miguel Nzau and Innocent Ayebare among others.

He is viewed as a replacement for Apollo Kagogwe who left the Purple Sharks for Maroons.

Meanwhile, Steven Bengo coached side lost 2-0 to Tanzania’s Kagera Sugar in an international club friendly at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium on Saturday.
