United States of America (USA) women football team beat Brazil 1-0 in the 2024 Olympic final at Parc des Princes stadium in Paris city, France on Saturday night.
After a goal-less first 45 minutes, the game was lit up in the 57th minute thanks to Mallory Swanson’s strike in the 57th minute.
Swedish referee Tess Olofsson issued one caution in the game; to Brazil’s left back Lima Tarciane with 9 minutes to play.
USA has now beaten Brazil in three women football finals at the Olympic Games after 2004 and 2008 triumphs.
Brazil had ejected Spain 4-2 in the semi-final whilst USA edged Germany 1-0 at the same level.
The bronze medal match between Germany and Spain ended with the former winning 1-0.
In men’s football, Spain defeated hosts France 5-3 to win the men’s football gold medal.
