- Soroti City v Wanderers – Lugogo Oval – 10am
- Jinja SS v Olila CC – Jinja Oval – 10am
Soroti City is chasing back-to-back T20 League titles but will have to first deal with Wanderers in the semifinals.
Wanderers finished second in Group B while Soroti City won Group A, the path for both sides to the knockouts.
The defending champions dropped points in the group games losing to Tornado Bee, which might have hurt their ego. They will need a flawless game in the one-off game to win against an improving Wanderers side.
Soroti City will be counting on Victoria Pearls Captain Janet Mbabazi to lead the side to the finals while Naomi Kayondo has been in great form for Wanderers with the bat with back-to-back half-centuries in the last two games. The young Gringish Nabulime playing her first season in the league has shown no fear and has been a key component in Wanderers’ passage to the knockouts. Soroti City with their experience are the favourites but if they don’t show up Wanderers has the potential to hurt them.
The pick of the semifinal games will be in Jinja as hosts Jinja SS take on Olila CC. The two sides are previous winners of the T20 League.
Jinja SS will be counting on home advantage a well as the experience of Stephanie Nampiina, Susan Kakai and Rita Musamali to overcome the youthful Olila CC.
Olila CC, the only side not to lose a game en route to the semifinals after winning Group B, will need to dig deep against the experience of Jinja SS. Malisa Ariokot, Lona Anyait, Jimia Muhammad have the exuberance of youth with Phiona Khulume and Sarah Akiteng the experienced players in the side for Olila CC.
This is a hard fixture to predict with the best team on the day assured of getting the result.
The semifinal is a single game with the winner progressing to the finals to be played next weekend in Jinja.
