Six-time StarTimes Uganda Premier League giants Vipers SC have launched the club day dubbed ‘Vipers Day’ that will be celebrated annually.

This was announced on Tuesday July 16 by the club president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa at the club’s home, St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende.

Flanked by club chairman George Mulindwa and Marketing Director Simon Ssekankya in presence of executive members, Mulindwa revealed that essence of the day will be to celebrate and interact with all stakeholders of not only Vipers but the entire football fraternity.

“I am here to announce in the inauguration of VIPERS DAY which will be marked annually,” said Mulindwa.

“On this day, we are transforming from the Vipers fans day that has been marked in the past five years into a Vipers SC day that will include all stakeholders and not just the fans.

Our partners, sponsors, bankers and well wishers are all invited for a special day that will include feasting, entertainment and of course football as we look at the bigger picture of transforming the game in this country. Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa

The first of its kind in Ugandan football, the former Fufa President also revealed that on the day, Saturday July 27, 2024 will have fans registration will go on, the squad for the 2024/25 and the technical staff unveiled, two football matches – one involving club legends vs fans and the big one between Vipers and a guest team from Africa, outside of Uganda.

“There will be so many activities. We shall unveil our squad for the forthcoming season, its staff, two matches with the main one having the current team against one of the big teams in Africa – more so competing in either Caf Champions League or Caf Confederation Cup.”

The guest team according to the Venoms will be revealed before end of this week.

Ssekankya called upon all fans, partners and well wishers to embrace the day revealing that fans will part with only 10,000 ush to be part of the event.

“I must commend the president and the executive for thinking about such a day,” said Ssekankya.

“We shall use the time to interact and network with sponsors and also would wish the football fraternity to show potential sponsors what they can gain by associating with the game,” he added.

Ssekankya emphasized discipline amongst all fans that will attend the day.

Vipers CEO Simon Njuba revealed that closure of last season, the club had more than one hundred thousand (100,000) registered fans and such an event will help to attract even more.

Meanwhile, the honorary Fufa President commended government for creating an enabling environment for investors and also wished both Villa and Kitara the best on the continent.

“I must commend the government for creating an enabling environment for investment through keeping peace and security.

“In this regard, I also wish Villa all the best in Cecafa and Caf Champions League and Kitara in the Confederation Cup because if they do well, the game will improve and we shall also have a good national team.”

Last season, Vipers ended the season empty handed but Mulindwa warns opponents that his side will at the fore front of the competition next season after assembling a very competitive squad.
