Under 48 days to the long awaited the Paris 2024 Olympics Games in France, team Uganda continues to garner steam and stamina.

The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has cemented the long relationship with paints manufacturing gurus, Kansai Plascon.

Kansai Plascon officially announced their package to team Uganda during the official unveiling ceremony at the head offices of Kansai Plascon in Industrial Area, graced by their general manager Santosh Gumte and Daniel Kayongo, head of marketing coordination.

Uganda Olympic Committee’s team had the president Dr. Donald Rukare, the chef de mission for team Uganda at the forthcoming Olympics Moses Mwase and Joseph Colllins Ssemanda, the head of marketing commission at the UOC.

The sponsorship is worth Ug.Shs 125,000,000 (one hundred and twenty-five millions); of which Ug.Shs 50,000,000 (fifty millions) is cash and the rest, Ug.Shs 75,000,000 (seventy-five millions) is in kind (product).

“We value such partnerships as the one with Kansai Plascon. This is a worthy partnership since we have shared values as excellence, respect and teamwork. The sponsorship will surely boost the team’s confidence as they prepare for the Olympic Games.” Dr Rukare revealed.

Santosh expressed delight upon the continued working relations with the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) and vowed to maintain the status quo.

“Kansai Plascon is excited to continue working together with the Uganda Olympic Committee. We shall maintain the relationship for the good of sports development in Uganda” Santosh noted.

Kansai Plascon which also sponsors the national cricket team, football (Uganda Cup and Vipers) as well as netball joins Sanlam Insurance, the official insurance partner for team Uganda who will cover the travel and medical insurance concerns.

Nile Breweries Limited and the Government of Uganda (major funders) are the other important stakeholders for team Uganda.

Mwase, Uganda’s Chef De Mission for the team headed to France appreciated the generosity of Kansai Plascon towards such a noble cause.

He also gave a key note address about the team preparations and current status.

We appreciate Kansai Plascon for this sponsorship that helps supplement on the budget. We would encourage more partners to support the general preparations of team Uganda so that the athletes prepare well to represent the country with dignity. We expect about 37 athletes and 28 officials to travel for France. During the previous games in Japan, Uganda won two gold medals, 1 silver and a bronze, all from athletics.

The Olympics will commence on 26th July 2024 and run until 11th August 2024 in France’s capital city, Paris.

Uganda is among the 206 confirmed countries and territories that will be participating.

These games attract over 15,000 athletes and will be viewed by over 4 billion people from all over the world via various media platform; television and social media.
