Villa eliminate holders BUL to reach FUFA Super 8 final

SC Villa are through to the final of the 2025 FUFA Super 8 final after overcoming defending Champions BUL FC in the semifinals on Sunday.

In the game played at MTN-Omondi Stadium Stadium, normal time ended in a one-all draw but the Jogoos managed to clinch the tense penalty shootout 5-4.

BUL took an early lead when SC Villa defender Arnold Odong directed Hillary Onek’s cross into his own net in the fourth minute.

The Jogoos were however able to level matters in the 75th minute with Najib Yiga’s free kick deflected into the net by BUL’s Sowedi Luwenda.

In the penalty shootout, Villa’s goalkeeper David Lukwago was the hero saving two penalties. He denied Ibrahim Mugulusi and Bakali Magunda.

On the other hand, Frank Mulimi was the only SC Villa player who missed from the spot when he fired wide of Farouk Yawe’s goal.

SC Villa will face NEC FC in the final on Wednesday at FUFA-Kadiba Stadium. On the same day, BUL will tussle it out with URA FC for the third place.
