CAF Women’s Champions League: Kampala Queens fall to Rayon Sport in semifinals

Kampala Queens hopes of qualifying for CAF Champions League final tournament came to an agonizing end on Sunday after falling to Rayon Sport.
In the first semifinal of the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers played at the Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani, Rayon Sport of Rwanda edged the close contest to make it to the final.
Normal time ended goalless and there was no goal even after extra time which meant the game had to be decided on kicks from the penalty mark.
Rayon Sport were perfect from the spot, converting all their four penalties to win 4-3.
Goalkeeper Angeline Ndakimana aka Pendo was the heroine for the Rwandese outfit saving both Catherine Nagadya and Zaitun Namanga’s penalties.
Rayon Sport now awaits the winner between Kenya Police Bullets and JKT Queens from the other semifinal.
It should be noted that the Champions of the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers get the sole ticket to play at the final tournament.
Kampala Queens will now play for the bronze medal on Tuesday against the team that will lose in the other semifinal game.
