NBL Playoffs: UCU Canons Complete Playoffs Bracket

UCU Canons have completed the National Basketball League (NBL) playoff picture after eliminating Kampala Rockets with a decisive 64-38 victory on Sunday at Jaguars Den in Kira.
The win saw Coach Nicholas Natuhereza’s side clinch the best-of-three quarterfinal series 2-1, overturning a narrow 49-50 loss in game one to claim back-to-back victories and secure their place in the semifinals.
The Canons made their intentions clear from the onset, racing to a 10-0 start and taking the first quarter 21-10.
They carried a 34-18 advantage into halftime, extended their lead to 15 points by the end of the third quarter, and never allowed the Rockets back into the contest.
Jimmy Otim led the Canons with 18 points, while Joel Kayiira dominated the boards with 12 rebounds. Ibanda Lwabaga and Marvin Jesse Okurut chipped in with 10 points apiece to cap a balanced team effort.
For the Rockets, Pauti Ozias Kikomba (15 points) and Mpiya Juf (11) tried to keep their side afloat, but their contributions were not enough. Daniel Najja Juuko’s team struggled offensively, committing 26 turnovers and shooting just 4-of-22 from beyond the arc.
With the win, the Canons now advance to face Nam Blazers in the semifinals, while defending champions City Oilers will take on Sommet in the other last-four clash.
