The essence and value of life is always reflected upon purposeful living.

That said, purposeful living is a gradual process built right from scratch as early as the toddler ages through the teen cluster to adulthood.

Time immemorial, Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has also promoted purposeful living through their various rich programs and deliberations.

One key program is that of preaching the Olympic values and spirit to the youth.

Every year, Uganda Olympic Committee holds special events where the young ones are invited and involved in fully engaging programs about the Olympic movement.

The latest program was held at the Lugogo based UOC headquarters on Friday, 24th May 2024 as a delegation of pupils and teachers from Kampala Community International School (KCIS), Naguru visited.

The group was led by Deborah Isharaza, the director of education at this school as the Olympic values of fair-play, teamwork, friendship, respect and excellence were emphasized.

“We are humbled to visit the headquarters of Uganda Olympic Committee. Our learners have learnt a lot and met different people as the president Dr Donald Rukare and former Olympian Ganzi Mugula” Isharaza stated.

Uganda Olympic Committee president Dr. Donald Rukare expressed special gratitude upon hosting the young children from Kampala Community International School (KCIS).

I am happy to host young ones from KCIS. This is one of the programs to promote olympism. This was an engaging affair where the children freely asked and answered questions about the olympic committee. It was inspiring. The children were taught about the values of fair-play, teamwork, friendship, respect and excellence. These values transcend in the sporting life and normal life. We hold these programs yearly as we reach out to the different schools. Dr. Donald Rukare, president of Uganda Olympic Committee

Olympian Ganzi Mugula, captain of team Uganda at the 2012 Olympics in London, United Kingdom encouraged the children to work hard and fulfill their dreams.

“Never give up your dreams in life. Always work hard, do your best and make many friends” Mugula revealed.

“We are happy to have visited UOC headquarters. We learnt from Mr Ganzi not to give up in life” Ryan, one of the pupils stated.
