Uganda Cranes skipper Khalid Aucho will not feature in the upcoming Uganda Cranes FIFA World Cup Qualifier matches against Botswana and Algeria.

The development was confirmed by Uganda Cranes Head coach Paul Put in a pre match press conference held on Thursday at FUFA Complex, Mengo.

Put revealed the combative midfielder is ruled out of the game against Botswana slated for tomorrow and also unlikely to feature in the encounter against Algeria on Monday next week.

“It is unfortunate that captain Aucho picked up an injury in his last club engagement. The doctors assessed him and ruled him out of tomorrow’s game but we hope he can be able to recover in time for the game on Monday.” He said.

Aucho who was present at the presser equally confirmed his absence indicating the MRI results were not good.

“I felt something in my knee after the final against Azam on Sunday but I thought it was minor. When I took a scan, the results were not positive but regardless, the coach wanted me to be here and be part of the team.” He said.

“I believe the boys are in the best shape mentally and physically and ready to deliver in the two games.” Added Aucho.

Uganda has three points from the opening two games having defeated Somalia 1-0. They lost with an identical score in the first game against Guinea.
