2024 Buganda Masaza Football Cup:

Groups:

  • Bulange: Bulemeezi, Buddu, Kyadondo, Buluuli, Butambala, Bugerere
  • Muganzirwazza: Gomba, Buweekula, Ssingo, Kyaggwe, Mawogola, Kooki
  • Masengere: Mawokota, Buvuma, Kabula, Busujju, Ssese, Busiro

In preparation for the 2024 Buganda Masaza football championship, Kyaggwe Ssaza team continues to take shape.

After agreeing terms with David Katono Mutono as head coach, alongside the other members of the technical team, now the effort is being consolidated towards the playing staff.

A couple of tried and tested players have been recruited to bolster the team.

So far, several players as goalkeeper Abdu Bageenda, winger Isaac Oforyoth, forward Issa Emmanuel Mugoya, midfielders Geoffrey Gaganga, Hassan Ssentongo and defender Godfrey Alijori have been recruited.

Mugoya has been featuring at Bugerere Ssaza, goalkeeper Bageenda was at Bulemeezi, Alijori (Busiro), Ssentongo (Buvuma) whilst Gaganga and Oforyoth have been at Mawokota.

Technical Team:

Head coach Mutono is working with Jimmy Kintu Mwera (assistant) who is also the head coach at Uganda Christian University (UCU) Football Club.

Others are; John Billy Lukoda (goalkeeping coach), Rajab Jooga (permanent Ssaza coach) and Dan Birikwalira (trainer).

Uganda Cranes assistant coach Sam Ssimbwa Bamweyana is technical director and Shaddrach Nsobya (CEO, Free Star Football Club) will be deputize Ssimbwa.

Peter Mubiru is charge of the equipment and tools.

Other personnel:

Micdad Mulimira is the team manager, Jude “Sticker” Walusimbi the assistant team manager and Rogers Kamya, the second assistant team manager.

Christened as the “Bukunja Warriors”, Kyaggwe Ssaza was pooled in Muganzirwazza group alongside the five-time champions Gomba, Buweekula, Ssingo, Mawogola and Kooki.

They are on a mission possible to win their first ever trophy in the Buganda Masaza football tournament.

The new Masaza cup season is ear-marked to kick off in June 2024.
