TomDee Addresses Claims of Substance Use, Shares His Approach to Staying Sober

Musician TomDee, real name Bakulumpagi Tom Derrick, has spoken out on allegations that he uses toxic substances to build confidence for his performances.
TomDee, during his media interview, denied the allegations, maintaining that he keeps a sober mind at all times. Despite acknowledging that he has tasted alcohol, he revealed that he mixes it with soda to dilute the taste and reduce the impact.
“I’m very sober to the point that even with alcohol, I get an extra bottle and mix it with soda. I can never take it alone because it is sour,” he said.
TomDee further noted that he does this to stay in character and vibe when he is out with his friends who drink alcohol.

“It is just the vibe from my friends that I need to make them feel abandoned. Do not smoke drugs or anything. I have never tried a bit, even to know how to feel. I do not believe in it,” he said.
Tom Dee also advised budding artists to stay away from substance abuse, as it would easily ruin their careers. He encouraged them not to follow the footsteps of the popular artists who do drugs, since they have already cemented their position in the industry.
“It is dangerous when you get addicted. We have our inspirations who do drugs, but because they are already celebrities, no one cares because they are already popular. Even when they do it in front of the camera, people are used to that. With your one hit song and being an upcoming artist, you decide to be an addict, then you are finished,” he said.
