Sommet draws first blood against KCCA Panthers | NBL Playoffs


Sommet Basketball Club took game one of the quarterfinals in the 2025 National Basketball League playoffs.
Sommet BC secured a dominant 74-64 victory against KCCA Panthers in the best-of-three of the NBL encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday.
Sommet opened a six-point (74-64) lead at the end of a thrilling opening period.
Livingstone Kimambo was perfect on the line to end the second quarter as the Panthers trailed by nine points.
Coming from the locker rooms, Sommet extended their lead to 15 points (55-40) setting up an anticipated final quarter.
Richard Matawulu put the icing on the cake with a long shot as Sommet secured a 10-point victory.
Peter Cheng (20 points and 21 rebounds) and Fataki Nyembo (17 points and 15 rebounds) had massive performances registering double-doubles for Sommet.
Richard Mutawulu also joined the double-digit ranks after dropping 11 points on the day.
On the other hand, Caeser Kizito (18 points) and Stanley Mugerwa (10 points) scored in double digits for KCCA Panthers.
