ONC Clarifies on Allegations of Collecting Money from Ugandans Going to Iran on Study Scholarships

The Office of the National Chairperson (NRM) has vowed to take to courts of law individuals spreading false rumors on corruption allegations related to requesting money from poor Ugandans towards scholarship opportunities that had recently been availed by the republic of Iran to Uganda.

Through its leader and the presidential advisor, Hajjati Hadijah Namyalo, the explanations have been made publicly in a press conference, during the announcements regarding the launch of youth development programs on fighting poverty and wealth creation with focus on providing free equipment that shall empower the youth to start small businesses in order escape poverty, an initiative being fostered by the president of Uganda. The groundbreaking shall be in Wakiso headquarters of Entebbe municipality on 27th of this month.

On Tuesday at the ONC headquarters in kampala, Namyalo despised those trying to blackmail her and hiding behind the Iran scholarship corruption scandals in order to assume her position at the office of the Office of the National Chairperson as the head. “I am not corrupt , that is why His Excellency entrusted me with this office, therefore whoever wishes to replace me should go through rightful means rather than trying it that way, “ she said.

She included that several opportunities had come through from the UK, America, Dubai and Iran, however, for the Iran case, contacts were made directly to her office since it comprised majority programs that bring together the youths.

“I informed the consulate of Iran that I was unable to participate with the program directly but I delegated some of my team to cooperate with them, however, to my surprise, I later got to understand that the majority were paying for their admissions to grow, something that never was part of the scholarship program.” she noted.
