The Female Future Alumni Association has handed over leadership to the new Board after a two-years tenure of the outgone Board following an election that took place in August 2020.
During a Board Meeting held on Thursday 12th November 2020 and Chaired by the outgoing Chair Ms Josephine Nakkomo Mukumbya, the new Board members elected Helen Nanteza Kawesa, as Chair. Kawesa will be deputised by Josephine Zhane as Vice Chair, with Martha Olwenyi as Secretary, Annette Rumanyika Mulira as Treasurer and Patience Kemigisha in charge of Communication and Mobilisation. Other Board members include Hope Twinomugisha, Rhoda Muganzi, Theodora Webale, and Sarah Kajummba.

In her handover speech, Mukumbya pictured above, highlighted the achievements of the outgoing Board which included increase in membership, opportunities to networking and career growth, recommendations to Board memberships, visibility in the leadership arena and participation in corporate social responsibility activities.
In her acceptance speech, the new Chair, Helen Nanteza Kawesa, commended the outgoing board for steadily steering the Association over the last two years and said that she was honoured to serve as Chair of the Association, which she said had a rich pool of accomplished women from whom a lot of wealth in terms of resource could be gathered. “I am honoured to be elected to this leadership position. I am confident that if we work together as a team, we will be able to impact on the communities in which we exist positively, and we will increase our visibility and in so doing get more members on board,” Kawesa said.
“We were privileged to have participated in the Female Future Programme, and the onus is on us now to ensure that more women out there undergo the same experience, and transform themselves in to better individuals. Results show that FFP alumni compete more favourably for the opportunities that present themselves to them and make positive impact in the workplaces and wherever they are. It is our responsibility to create visibility for the programme because no one will blow our trumpet for us,” she said.
She added that the new board would strive to recruit as many members as possible in the Association, because as a large pool they could impact more significantly.
“We need to make market ourselves more so as to make the membership better, and also to give back to the community because there are so many women and girls out there that we can help in different ways through mentorship and guidance. The opportunities are limitless, lets join hands and exploit them.”
Started in 2011, the Female Future Program (FFP) is an exclusive and life changing female only programme that enables the participants to challenge themselves to get out of their respective comfort zones to fulfill their potential. The participants become more effective leaders and are able to champion the strategic agenda of their organisations. It improves self-awareness, confidence, presence, visibility, resilience, teaches successful negotiation and gives a sense of belonging.

The Board Competence module prepares them with the hard and soft skills necessary to be valuable board members who steer any organization to greater heights.

All the 140 ladies who have attended so far have progressed in their careers and the programme is comparable to regional and international leadership programmes. This Programme has been nominated by the ILO as one of the ten best practices of Gender Equality.
The alumni association has as its objective to form a network of women in leadership with the aim of sharing experiences to groom, mentor and coach each other and others, and to promote training opportunities for women leaders.
