The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has named Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
The German becomes the 37th Head coach of the two-time African champions and replaces legend George Finidi who left the role a few months after his appointment.
“The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that it has reached an agreement with German tactician, Bruno Labbadia, to become the Head Coach of Nigeria’s Senior Men National Team, Super Eagles,” read a statement from the NFF.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said in the early hours of Tuesday: “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles
The appointment is with immediate effect.”
Labbadia is an experienced tactician that has previously coach German sides Vfb Stuttgart, Hertha Berlin and SV Hamburger among others.
He has also played football at top level featuring for among others Bayern Munich and the German national team.
His first assignment will come early next month when Nigeria face Rwanda and Benin in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
