Ochaya, Lukwago return to Uganda Cranes fold ahead of South Africa, Congo games

Defender Jospeh Ochaya and goalkeeper Charles Lukwago are back in the national team fold. The two were named in the squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against South Africa and Congo slated for next month.

Uganda Cranes Head coach Paul Put named a squad of 28 players on Tuesday in a press conference held at FUFA Complex, Mengo.

Ochaya last featured for the team in the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers against Niger last year while Lukwago has been sidelined for the recent engagements.

The coach also revealed that defenders Kenneth Semakula and Halidi Lwaliwa will not be available for the game against South Africa due to Visa issues.

However, the duo will be available for the home game against Congo on 9th September at Mandela National Stadium.

Uganda is in Group J alongside South Africa, Congo and South Sudan.
