BUL have a chance to defend their Fufa Super 8 trophy after they edged favourites Kitara 1-0 in the semi-final to advance to the final.

In a closely contested tie played under the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo flood lights, Pascal Ngobi scored the winner in the 63rd minute.

The midfielder improvised with a nice skill to receive the ball from second half substitute Lawrence Tezikya before lifting the ball over Jamil Kiyimba who kept goal for the Royals of Bunyoro on the day.

BUL defended resolutely limiting Brian Ssenyondo’s men to a few unclear chances.

Ssenyondo gave new signings Ivan Sserubiri and Marvin Nyanzi a chance to start in the middle but they were overpowered by the duo of Ngobi and George Kasonko.

The Jinja based side will now wait for the winner between Vipers and Uganda Cranes Select team who face off on Sunday for the final scheduled on August 31.

Elsewhere, NEC rallied from a 2-0 halftime score line to draw with SC Villa and then beat the Jogoos 4-3 on penalties.

Andrew Otim scored the brace for the Blues inside the opening half hour but Paul Mucureezi and Enock Ssebagala drew the two teams level before a shootout to determine the winner.

Charles Lwanga and Ronald Ssekiganda missed their respective attempts while it was only Ibrahim Kiyemba in the NEC shirt to miss.

NEC will now play the winner between Maroons and KCCA for a 5th place match while Villa will play whoever loses.
