NEC FC keep faith with Hussein Mbalangu

NEC FC management has ended all speculation about Hussein Mbalangu’s future by keeping faith with their head coach for the 2024/25 season.

Mbalangu guided the premier league newbies to 6th place and also lost to Kitara in the final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

“We still have faith in the coach (Mbalangu) and we shall give him all the support he wants to improve the team,” said club Chairman Eng. Brian Buhanda at the club’s end of season dinner at Royal Suites Bugolobi on Friday. “He led us well in our first season and we are content with the performance,” he added.

Lieutenant General Brian Mugira, the club patron who also in attendance echoed same sentiments and pledged continuous support to the whole team before he officially handed over a state of the art bus to the team.

“As management, we are proud of the achievements in our first season in the top division and we shall continue to support you,” he said.

Mbalangu was elated with the support and backing from his bosses and is already planning for the season ahead.

“I want to thank the management and everyone associated with the club for the support throughout last season,” said Mbalangu. “And at no time did I feel insecure in this job because we have done well although we lost some games that denied us the title that we shouldn’t have lost,” he continued.

“The speculation about my job were fueled by some colleagues who targeted my job but it is important that the club has made it clear.

“We have started working already and target some new signings to beef up the squad to enable us compete well.”

Livingstone Mbabazi and John Ayala Luyinda had been earmarked to replace Mbalangu in case he was to be sacked but the faith now ends all speculation.
