Jinja SS will host the annual Boys’ Schools Cricket Week tournament from August 24th – 31st August.

The tournament will feature 18 schools from six different regions in Uganda. Jinja SS, winners in 2023, will be looking to defend their title at home. They will face stiff competition from their regional counterparts and record winners Busoga College Mwiri, the 19-time champions lost to Jinja SS in the regional final but will be hoping for better fate in the tournament.

The central region has six schools at the qualifiers and the most schools followed by the Nile Region with five, with the other four regions contributing seven schools to the tournament. A total of six different playing surfaces will be used in Jinja which is a testament to the impact of hosting the annual event for the last two years on the facilities in the region.

Horizon International School (Nile Region) and  Shree Sahajanand School Uganda (Central Region) are the newcomers at the tournament while Kings College Budo is making a return after a long hiatus.

The 18 teams will be put into two groups with the top two sides qualifying for the semifinals and then a final. The games start on Sunday 25th and will conclude with a final on 31st Saturday.

The tournament has been supported by Sky View for the second year in a row.

The schools that will feature in the tournament include:

  • Eastern Region: Soroti SS, Teso College Aloet
  • Northern Region: Gulu High School, St Joseph’s College Layibi
  • Nile Region (Jinja): Jinja SS, Kira College Butiki, St James SS, Busoga College Mwiri, Horizon International School,
  • Central Region: Ndejje SS, Delhi Public School, Shree Sahajanand School Uganda, St John’s SS, Aga Khan High School, Kings College Budo
  • Western Region: Nyakasura School,
  • South Western Region: Masaka SS, Ntare School.
