Vipers SC progressed to the semi-final of the Fufa Super 8 despite a 1-a draw with hosts NEC at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

Following a goalless draw in the first leg at Kitende, Vipers knew that a scoring draw was enough to take them to the next step and they duly got the opener in the 45th minute through Milton Karisa.

Karisa capitalised on a mistake by Ibrahim Kiyemba in the NEC defence to tap home past Hannington Ssebwalunyo.

Hussein Mbalangu’s men were the better side after the break and pressed for the leveller which arrived in the 88th minute when Dickson Niwamanya headed home.

Jack Komakech was the star for the Venoms who had coach Nikola Kavazovic back on the bench after he missed the first leg with malaria.

Vipers will now meet the winner between SC Villa and Uganda Cranes Select which face off on Wednesday with the latter leading 2-1 from the first leg.

In the other game played, KCCA and Kitara played to a thrilling six goal game which ended in a stalemate.
