UCU Lady Canons proved too strong for KIU Rangers in Thursday’s National Basketball League Playoff Semifinals opening game.

The Lady Canons were in charge shortly after tipoff to the final buzzer in the 73-44 win.

KIU guard Fildauce Namulema opened the scoring from downtown but Shillah Lamunu twice responded in equal measure to put the Lady Canons ahead and the Mukono-based side never looked back.

Aziida Nabayunga (20 points & 18 rebounds) and Shakirah Nanvubya (17 points) scored in double figures for UCU while Ines Kanyamunza (15 points) was the only Ranger to score in double digits.

Game 2 of the series will be played on Sunday.
