Arsenal announce the signing of Eze

The 27-year-old becomes the Gunners’ latest high-profile arrival this summer, marking a significant boost to Mikel Arteta’s attacking options as Arsenal look to challenge for major honours in the 2025 season. The deal also represents a homecoming of sorts for Eze, who began his footballing journey in Arsenal’s academy before embarking on a career that has now come full circle.
Announcing the move, Arsenal stated: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Eberechi Eze on a long-term contract. The 27-year-old England international returns to north London, where his football journey began in our academy before he rose to prominence as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic attacking talents.”
Eze’s Journey to Arsenal
Eberechi Eze’s career began at youth level with Arsenal before spells at Millwall and Queens Park Rangers helped him rise to prominence. His breakthrough came in the 2019/20 season at QPR, where his dazzling attacking displays saw him voted Player of the Year. That form earned him a move to Crystal Palace in 2020, where he became one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League.
Over five seasons at Selhurst Park, Eze made more than 150 appearances for Palace, scoring crucial goals and developing into one of the most creative midfielders in the league. His crowning moment came in May, when he scored the winning goal in Crystal Palace’s historic FA Cup final victory over Manchester City – a strike that cemented his legacy in Palace’s history books.
England International Experience
Eze’s rise also extended onto the international stage. After representing England at youth levels, he made his senior debut in 2023 and has since earned 11 caps for the Three Lions. The attacking midfielder was part of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad, gaining valuable tournament experience, and scored his first international goal in March 2025 during a 3-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Latvia.
Arsenal’s Excitement Over the Deal
Arsenal Sporting Director Andrea Berta expressed his delight at securing the transfer, highlighting both Eze’s quality and his winning mentality. He said: “We are so pleased to have completed this deal to bring Eberechi to Arsenal. Eberechi is a creative and explosive talent with huge technical quality – also a big-game player, with his experience at international level with England also underlining his quality and character.
“There has been excellent teamwork across the club to make this transfer happen and we are very confident Eberechi will be an important addition to our squad as we continue to build for success.”
A Statement Signing
For Arsenal, Eze’s arrival represents both a statement of intent and a much-needed reinforcement following the injury setback suffered by Kai Havertz. The Gunners now boast another versatile attacking midfielder capable of unlocking defences, scoring goals, and delivering in the biggest of games. Supporters will be eager to see Eze make his debut in red and white as Arsenal’s pursuit of silverware gathers pace.
