2025 Eid Day Cup: Arab African Group for Investment, Trade and Tourism joins sponsors’ bandwagon

The second edition of the Eid Day Cup will take place on this year’s Eid at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo in Kampala under the theme “Unity, Faith and Excellence”.

Arguably ranking among the most exciting community sports events of the year, the Eid Day cup will be celebrated with enticing football matches, culture and brotherhood as the muslims mark the end of the Holy fasting month, Ramathan.

The Arab African Group for Trade and Investment has joined the bandwagon of partners and sponsors for this day-long championship where several prayer sessions Zuhr, Asr and Maghrib will be held.

This was confirmed by the chairman and CEO Arab African Group for Investment and Trade Al Hajji Yasin Musa Alzain during the launch held at the MTN Omondi Stadium – Lugogo on Monday, 24^th March 2025.

“Football unites many people and we shall play football on Eid Cup as a way to celebrate this Holy Eid. We celebrate humanity, brotherhood and peace. I thank the media for the work well done” Al Hajji Alzain remarked flanked by Ambassador Rashid Yahaya Ssemuddu.

The launch at Lugogo was also graced by former Uganda Cranes midfielder Musa Mudde.

There will be 10 matches on the day between 11 am to 9 pm featuring the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Parliament of Uganda, Police, TV and Radio, Shiekhs and Imams, Digital Media, Hajjs and the Cooperates.

The day will be spiced up by the Alzain match between Diplomats and the defending champions.

Some of the key names expected in this match will be; His Excellency Ambassador Abdallah Alshamisi (United Arab Emirates), His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Jarda (Sudan), Al Hajji Habib Kagimu (Hononary Consulate of Malaysia in Uganda), Hajji Hamis Kiggundu (Ham Entreprises), Hajji Kin Karisa (Next Media), Hajji Karim Kaliisa (Salaam TV), Hajji Faizal Bukenya (PayUganda), Hajji Rashid Ssenyonga (Prestige Margarine), Hajji Mohammad Kaliisa (Salaam Charity), Imam Mohamad Abdulweli, Imam Ahmed Kyeyune.

Prizes:

There are trophies, medals (gold, silver and bronze) as well as cash prize.

The winning team will pocket Ug.Shs 3,000,000; the runners up will take Ug.Shs 2,000,000 and the third placed team will take home Ug.Shs 1,000,000.
