Travis Mutyaba’s early goal in the 9th minute has given the hosts the advantage coming to the final stanza of the game well cheered by a capacity all-sold-out crowd.

Mutyaba, who plies his trade with Egyptian giants Zamalek struck a beautiful individual goal past goalkeeper Anthony Manderea via a forest of legs.

Uganda Cranes’ Rogers Kassim Mato and Bobosi Byaruhanga have been booked in the 22nd and 35th minutes respectively.

For the better part of the game, it has been Uganda Cranes on the offensive and would have easily extended the lead through Steven Desse Mukwala and Rogers Kassim Mato.

Mukwala missed a curler inside the goal area in the 39th minute.

Algeria’s best chance of the first half went to West Ham United player Said Mohammed Amoura whose shot kissed the lower post before getting back to goalkeeper Isima Watenga.

The second half returns and the two sides will plan for different agendas.

Uganda Cranes to jealously protect their lead or extend the goal tally as the North Africans fight to restore parity.
