This will be Rugumayo’s second tournament in Europe after a championship in Hamburg, Germany at the Green Eagle Golf course.

“I am excited to be here (Europe). Africa and this place are very different. Personally, it means a lot to me being the first Ugandan and East African to play on the challenge tour in France. It means a lot. I am already living my dream but the goal this week is to go out and give it my best and let things happen. This is just the beginning. A few years from now, I want to see more Ugandans here doing the same thing or even better than this” he spoke to the DP World Tour team in an exclusive interview.

The 31-year-old Ugandan became the first Ugandan to make the cut at the DP Tour Magical Kenya open in 2024.

Last year, the tournament was won by South African Darren Fichardt with a total gross score of 273 (-15), winning over Welsh Oliver James Farr.

Nathan Kimsey (England) won in 2022 after a play off win over Frenchman Robin Sciot Siegrist.

In 2021, five-time DP World Tour winner Marcel Siem of Germany was the podium as champion with another French, Hugo Leon as runners up.
