The grueling group stages for the 2024 Bika Bya Baganda football championships were successfully completed on Sunday, 26th May at various playgrounds.

Reigning champions Ngonge and Mmamba Kakobooza (group A), Ngabi Nsamba, Nkima (D), Mpindi, Omutima Omusagi (B), Mbogo and Ngeye (C) all made the grade to the last eight stage.

In some of the last group stage games; Nte overcame Nsenene 2-0 with Peter Lwasa scoring a brace during a group D duel. Despite the victory, Nte failed to progress to the quarter-finals.

The Ngabi Nsamba and Nkima contest played at the St.John’s Namusera played (Opposite GAZ) ended scoreless as both clans qualified to the last eight stage.

Omutima Omusagi overcame Kasimba 2-0 courtesy of Junior Lusaggi and Sudaice Mutale goals.

Sharif Ssaka and Brian Majwega netted the goals for Mpindi during their 2-0 win against Nnyonyi Nyange.

Njaza held Ngeye to a 1-all draw. Ivan Kalyowa scored Njaza’s goals with Charles Ssebutinde replying for Ngeye.

Lugave fell 1-2 to Mmamba Kakobooza. Brian Muluuli Mayanja and Warren Buule netted the goals cor Mmamba Kakobooza with Brian Nkuubi Ssemakula getting the consolation for Lugave.

Richard “Macheda” Ssonko poked home the day’s only goal for Ngoonge against Nvuma.

We had a successful group stage level of the Bika football competition. I urge the different clans to rally their fans and have the rest of the matches progress well. Owek. Hajji Sulaiman Magala, chairman Bika Byabaganda Football and Netball Committee (BIFONEC)

The quarter-final matches will be held on Wednesday, 29th May 2024 ahead of the semi-finals.

The bika football final will be played on 8th June 2024 at a venue yet to be confirmed.

  • Kasimba 0-2 Omutima Omusagi
  • Mpindi 2-0 Nnyonyi Nyange

  • Nvuma 0-1 Ngoonge
