Donald Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, gave his big VP acceptance speech to the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night. Gone was any talk of Vance’s radical position on abortion. Gone was any talk of his equally radical desire to end no-fault divorce. Instead, he told people to watch video of Trump being shot at over the weekend. He delivered a painfully generic speech about how he is a family man and a working-class Joe (who went to Yale Law School), and how Trump loves people like Vance. And it was … boooorrrrrrinnnggg. So boring that the most enthusiasm from the crowd—who was clearly desperate for something to cheer, some small shred of inspiration—came when they started chanting for themselves. J.D.
