  • Theme: Make St Peter’s College Tororo Great Again

In 1941, the MillHill Missionaries harbored a great dream that entailed uplifting education with the opening of the famous St Peter’s College, Tororo.

To-date, it is eight decades and three years down the road and this gallant institution still exists.

Surely, after this lengthy time span, the current infrastructure calls for a major overhaul and massive renovation with urgency.

The old school latin motto; “Palma sub pondere crescit” – literally translated ‘The Palm grows under the weight’ is maintained thus far with the vivid meaning that the better times for a palm plant to blossom is entailed by the growth under restraint conditions.

Henceforth, to renovate the fast-fading school premises, old students for this school under the umbrella body, SPECTOBA (St Peters’ College Tororo Old Boys Association) have planned efforts to fundraise for financial resources to a tune of Ug.Shs 3.1 billion.

To this effect, a dinner will be held on Thursday, 20th June 2024 at Silver Springs Hotel, Bugolobi in Kampala.

Old students from the different years they studied at the school are called upon to join this noble cause.

Professor Pakoyo Kamba, the current president of SPECTOBA urges the old students to come and support this fundraiser; in a give-back manner.

“We are fundraising for finances to upgrade the learning, accommodation, sports, water and sanitation facilities at St Peter’s College Tororo. The school has over the years had a tremendous contribution to Tororo, Bukedi region and Uganda at large. We invite all old students and well-wishers to come and be part as we recover the infrastructure of St Peter’s College Tororo” Prof. Pakoyo, a Pharmacist remarked.

Back then, the school was a center of learning and a hub of grooming sportsmen who graduated to the national teams in football, boxing, cricket, volleyball, rugby, among others.

A number of iconic sportsmen as former Uganda Cranes head coach and captain Paul Hasule, Geofrey Higenyi, Aggrey Bigala, Peter Onen, Simon Barigo (boxing), Edmond Owor, Zolle, Humphrey Mandu, Eric Anyole and others.

The Government of Uganda is also called upon to provide a humble contribution to this great school.
