  • Date: Saturday, 22nd June 2024
  • Tee off times: 7 AM – 2 PM

The Lake side picturesque par-71 Entebbe golf course will on Saturday, 22nd June 2024 be the place to throng as the MTN Monthly tee Back to school golf championship takes center-stage.

Over 100 golfers from the different clubs in the country shall converge at this 1901 golfing facility for this day long tournament intended to further boost education.

The MTN monthly tee back to school golf championship is a great way to raise money education initiatives in rural and remote communities.

The beneficiary of MTN Uganda’s effort to give back is Airforce Primary school, Katabi in Entebbe Municipality, Division A.

For starters, Airforce primary school is a public school found on Katabi hill besides the military detach for the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

“As close partners, we are excited to support one of our own and look forward to making the donation led by the head boy (chairman)” Entebbe club chairperson Eng. Jacob Byamukama remarks.

MTN Monthly Tee

In addition to theming the day and the 19th hole experience as “Back to school”, MTN Uganda and the golfers have a target of Ug.Shs 5M with all proceeds channeled towards Airforce primary school.

Entebbe club is famed for its great ambiance towards the members and all guests inclusive. A round of golf in an environment surrounded by the decimated pine tree species with melodious sounds from the birds and UWEC animal sanctuary as the cool breeze from Lake Victoria filters through is a worthy breathe-taking experience.

The energy, fun-fare and vibe at the famous 19th hole is a stress reliever for many as they reflect a tedious week to usher in the weekend after days of toil in offices, the field chores and elsewhere.

The tournament is also in honour of MTN Group’s 30th anniversary, where MTN is organizing a special edition of the flagship employee volunteerism programme 21 days of y’ello care.

This will be extended to 30 days of y’ello care. The campaign this year is themed “Learn today, lead tomorow”, focusing on bridging the educational divide in underserved communities across MTN’s operational foot print.

Most recently, MTN Uganda upgraded a shallow well at the Ongongoja secondary school, a bid intended to combat water scarcity at the school based in Usuk sub county, Katakwi district.
