Every Wednesday evening, it is fanfare at the Kagula Hill playground in Kakiri, Wakiso district as the enticing Caring Heart school’s football premier league rages on.

The schools, locals and legends of the beautiful game are all lured to catch the exciting action.

Teams named after outstanding English premier league clubs showcase their potential on the field of play.

This league idea was initiated by Pastor Paul Musisi of Caring Heart Victory Community Church.

Pastor Musisi, a retired footballer himself has interested a couple of other veterans who associate through the Former Footballers’ Initiative (FFI).

 Uganda’s football stars from the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s all meet to interact about the daily day-to-day life as they reflect upon the yester-year’s experiences, meanwhile they enjoy the youngsters in action.

United Kingdom based Godfrey Mukasa, a star for Simba and Express FC in the 80’s led the veterans at the latest outing.

“This is a good league that helps to keep young players active. From this, good players can be spotted and groomed for the better” Mukasa hints.

The bandwagon also had Leo Adraa, Obadiah “Musanvu w’egwanga” Semakula, David Mugerwa, Godfrey Nyola, among others.

In the latest action proper, Aston Villa clobbered Manchester United 9-0 during a one-sided duel.

The victory on the field of play was nullified in the boardroom after it was reported that Aston Villa used an ineligible player, in Benjamin Musisi.

During the game, Musisi had shone above the ordinary standards with a hattrick to his name tag.

The league chairperson Abel Agena confirmed the decision to given Manchester United three points and goals apiece.

“The league has rules and regulations that we follow to the dot. If a team disrespects and violates the rules, like field ineligible players as Aston Villa did, we do not hesitate but remove the points earned” Agena stated.

This Wednesday, 19th June 2024, Manchester City takes on Arsenal in a cracker of sorts.

At the moment, Liverpool leads the six team standings with 4 points.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Aston Villa have three points each.

Arsenal is challenged with no point garnered thus far. Meanwhile, the league organizers hired experienced Angelo Lonyesi to help in the further coaching of the young players.
