St. Martin Mulago Primary School Lauded for Supporting OVCs

KAMPALA: St. Martin Primary School, a Religious-founded educational institution in the country has been commended for coming out to supplement government efforts of bridging the access to education gap.
The call was made by the KCCA education supervisor for Kawempe division Hajjati Rehema Ndagire while addressing parents’ pupils and members of the community during the open Day celebrations for St Martin Mulago primary school in Kawempe division.
The colorful festivities started in the morning with a brass band match through the Old Mulago and surrounding communities before the Mulago parish church clergy took over mass which later saw stakeholders being thrilled by a host of entertainment activities.
Ndagire expressed deep optimism to the effect that religious founded schools have played a big role in supplementing government’s efforts in providing quality education to the citizens of Uganda saying KCCA would ensure that stronger collaborations are maintained for the common good of all stakeholders.
The chief guest of the day was the assistant chief commissioner innovations and talent development at the Uganda Scouts Association Eng. Nkoyoyo Erisa urged parents to encourage their children to join the Scout movement as it is the vehicle which builds their moral character to become responsible and positive thinking and reasoning young citizens of society.
Eng. Nkoyoyo revealed that the scout movement working closely with the KCCA and district education authorities across the country has embarked on a mass recruitment drive for young school children to join the movement to become self-reliant future leaders of tomorrow.
The Mayor Kawempe division Dr .Emmanuel Serunjogi who was represented by his deputy Badru Bakojja commended the headmaster of the school John Lubega for rebuilding St. Martin primary school making it one of the best model UPE schools among the 27 strong KCCA schools within the entire authority jurisdiction.
He observed that the division would continue lobbying the authority to extend more technical support to their KCCA schools like infrastructure boost as well as building the capacity of the teaching staff to deliver high quality education services to the largely ghetto pupils.
The Mulago catholic parish priest Angelo Okwai-Rwoth during mass cautioned parents to take care of their children as they break off for the long holiday season saying issues of moral decadence among young people were on the rise.
He pledged to work closely with stakeholders including parents, children, cultural, and political leaders in fighting corruption, immorality among communities and acts of indiscipline among the youth.
John Lwanga as headmaster of the school thanked the government through KCCA and the Catholic Church for the continued support extended to his school which has enabled him increase on the pupil ennoblement as parents gain confidence in the work done.
