Isabirye expects tough game against relegation battlers Bright Stars

Wednesday April 9, 2025

  • Wakiso Giants vs Maroons – Kyabaggu 4pm
  • URA vs Soltilo Bright Stars – Nakivubo 4pm

Despite having a good record against Bright Stars, URA coach Alex Isabirye is wary of the threat they pose when the two face off at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo.

The hosts have won 10 of the past 23 meetings with just two defeats in that period since they were promoted in 2013 and will be favourites coming into this clash.

Second from bottom on 15 points, Ian Mutenda’s men come into the game needing only victory to enlighten survival chances something that makes the tie a tough one for URA and Isabirye.

“They are fighting for their lives and this will be more like a final,” said Isabirye. “But we also want to win and continue rising up the table but we expect a tough game,” he added.

Hudu Mulikyi is doubtful for the tax collectors who beat Mbarara City 2-0 in their last outing to move to 4th place with 36 points.

The visiting side, buoyed by the 3-1 win over Police will rely on Nelson Ssenkatuka, Noordin Bunjo and Shafik Kakande for inspiration.

Bright Stars’ last victory over the four-time league champions came in 2019 when they won 1-0 away at URA.

Elsewhere, relegation battlers Wakiso Giants host Maroons in another highly anticipated clash.
