Spice Diana rejects claims of explicit lyrics taking over Ugandan music

Ugandan singer Hajjarah Namukwaya, widely known by her stage name Spice Diana, has spoken out against claims suggesting that artists producing music with inappropriate lyrical content are taking over the music scene.
In a recent statement, Spice Diana emphasized that while every artist may have their moment to shine, those who rely on vulgar lyrics tend to have short-lived careers and earn less from performances compared to artists who produce more meaningful content.
That is not true that artists with inappropriate lyrical content have taken over our space. But everyone has a time and space to shine.
Songs with inappropriate content have their fans who groove to them. However, songs with good lyrical content are not comparable to others.
Spice Diana also highlighted the financial disparity between the two categories of artists.
When you look at the payment of those with inappropriate lyrics, it is not that much, and their longevity is always short-lived.
Her remarks came in response to comments made by media personality Macona, who questioned whether artists with explicit lyrics are currently dominating the Ugandan music industry.
Spice’s stance reinforces the importance of lyrical quality and longevity in building a sustainable music career, an insight that may inspire both upcoming and established artists alike to prioritize substance over shock value.
