Denis Omedi scored the winning goal as Kitara saw off dominant KCCA in the Fufa Super 8 quarter final first leg at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

The Ugandan international got the only goal of the game in the 26th minute after the Royals stole possession inside KCCA half.

Brian Ssenyondo started with new signings Ronald Otti, Fred Amaku and David Ndihabwe and they did well especially the former who defended resolutely.

KCCA created several good scoring opportunities but failed to put away any with Abu Mayanja, debutants Shafik Nana Kwikiriza, Emmanuel Amanya and Sharif Ssengendo all coming close but saw their attempts go wide.

Crispus Kusima was also up to the task when called upon and the result means Kitara need a draw to progress when the two teams meet again on Tuesday next week at Lugogo.

In the other game played on the evening, Uganda Cranes Select came from behind to beat SC Villa 2-1.
