- Overall winner: Morgan Otile (H/C 18) – 64 nett
A large field of 130 golfers took to the par-71 lake side Entebbe golf course fairways during the MTN July 2024 monthly tee championship on Saturday, 20th.
After the early morning rain scare in Entebbe, the sun glowed out of the skies to grant a conducive environment for the game.
It was one tournament that golfers embraced for varying agendas at play; to network, polish their game, make the podium and contribute to their cumulative monthly ratings.
Most importantly, the golfers were getting in shape for the upcoming Entebbe chairman’s putter tournament next weekend.
By close of business, Morgan Otile, playing off handicap 18 scored the outstanding best score of 64 nett to take the overall gong.
Other top performers:
Paul Kalemba (H/C 9) won group A men with 68 nett, two shots ahead of Peter Apell (H/C 9) – 70 nett.
In group B, it wasDaniel Kajungu (H/C 18) with the best score of 70 nett, one better than Andrew Atuhaire (H/C 14) – 71 nett countback.
For group C men, Picole Lukyamuzi, handicap 22 returned to the podium once again with 68 nett, triumphing on countback ahead of Ronald Gayiya (handicap 26).
Seniors (55 years and above):
Richard Mucunguzi (H/C 18) swing finest among the old wine in the bottle cluster with 73 nett to win the 55 years and above category.
Guests:
The guest cluster belonged to Ou Kaowen (H/C 21) with 63 nett.
Ladies:
Group A:
Bridget Basiima (H/C 13) won the ladies’ group A pool with 72 nett, two shots ahead of Rita Akot Apell (H/C 15).
Group B:
Usual suspectin group B Peris Venessa, playing off handicap 19 still did not disappoint with 69 nett score.
Charity Tushabomwe (H/C 27) was runners up in the ladies’ group B with 72 nett (countback).
All the top performers received plaques and trophies during a low-key prize giving ceremony at the famous 19th hole.
The MTN Monthly tee golf championship is exclusively organized by Entebbe Club with MTN Uganda as the lead sponsor.
Other partners include cfao Motors, Huawei, afrisafe insurance and castle lite.
