Avengers and Black Pirates won back-to-back Cup Finals in Mbale and Kyadondo to break all ties at the top of the 2024 Nile Special 7s Series standings.

The Entebbe side were level on points (41) with Black Pearls in the women’s competition but in second place due to an inferior points difference. Retaining the Kyadondo 7s crown enabled them to leapfrog the three-time champions into first place.

Black Pirates had Heathens and Rhinos for company in the men’s competition. All three teams had thirty-two points but Heathens were ranked first by a superior points difference.

The Sea Robbers recovered from a poor start in Entebbe to upstage Heathens in two Cup Finals and claim the top spot.

Both leaders, Avengers and Black Pirates, are now just three points clear of their closest challengers going into the series’ first break.

The 2024 Nile Special 7s Series will resume on September 7-8 with the Gulu 7s at the Pece War Memorial Stadium.
