City Oilers secured a spot in the final of the 2024 National Basketball League after beating UCU Canons 78-63 in the semifinal series on Wednesday night at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The well-deserved victory gave City Oilers a 3-0 lead to secure the 10th straight final as they look for as many titles.
The City Oilers opened a four-point lead (18-14) at the end of an end-to-end period.
However, the UCU Canons fought back in the second quarter to level the score (39-39) going into the long break.
Coming from the locker rooms, Oilers crawled back from a 13-point deficit to trail by two points (54-52) at the end of a heated period.
Parrish Petty found his rhythm, hitting four straight long shots to open a 15-point lead with 2:35 minutes to play.
The ruthless Oilers’ side limited the Canons to nine points in the last quarter, thus securing a 15-point victory in a thrilling encounter.
Titus Lual (25 points), Ivan Muhwezi (14 points), and Petty (14 points) led the City Oilers’ offensive charge in double digits.
On the other hand, only Peter Sifuma (25 points) and Jerry Kayanga (10 points) managed to score double digits.
