Namuwongo Blazers secured a well-deserved 75-68 victory against KIU Titans in the National Basketball League semifinal series on Thursday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The victory dragged the series to a decider after the Blazers levelled the series 2-2 in a thrilling encounter.
Peter Obleng’s long jump shot created a nine-point (25-16) lead for the KIU Titans at the end of the opening period.
Namuwongo Blazers fought back in the second period as they reduced their deficit, thus trailing by two points (38-36) before heading into the long break.
The Blazers carried on the momentum in the third quarter, hence creating a six-point lead (59-53) at the end of a heated period.
The Blazers hang on to seal a hard-fought seven-point victory in front of a loud crowd.
Peter Cheng was instrumental in the Blazers’ victory as he registered a double-double scoring 23 points and pulling down 15 rebounds.
Paul Odong and Choul Nyuot scored 11 points each, thus contributing to the Blazers’ scoring board in double digits.
On the other hand, Joel Lukoji (19 points), Juf Mpiya (13 points), and Peter Obleng (11 points) scored double digits for the Titans.
