2024 Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Ladies Open (Round 2)

The second round of the 2024 Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Ladies Open championship will be played on Friday, 23rd August at the lake side par-71 Entebbe club.

The main pressure group that comprises of the day-one leader Hawa Wanyeche from Tanzania will drive off at 10:30 am.

The other three players in this group are two other Tanzanians Iddy Hussein Madina and Neema Olomi, as well as Uganda’s Martha Babirye.

“It is not yet pressure” Wanyeche who led by 3-over 74 on round one down-played the tension that comes with being at the top.

“I will play my normal game to maintain the status quo” she added as she leads by a single shot off the shoulders of three time winner Babirye.

The second pressure group will come 10 minutes earlier at 10:20 am with the likes of Tanzania’s Aalaa Riyaz Somji and Vicky Elias as well as Uganda’s Harriet Kitaka and the long hitting Meron Kyomugisha.

10:10 am has Burundian lady golfer Sandra Kangana and the Ugandan trio of Diana Nambalirwa, Judith Komugisha and Resty Nalutaaya.

“I enjoyed the course at Entebbe. This was my first time ever to play on it. I hope to improve during rounds two and three” Burundi’s Kangana, a member of Bujumbura Golf club stated.

Meanwhile, it is the second and final round for the senior golfers (55 years and above).

Godfrey Onyango Matata leads the senior men’s standings after scoring 81 gross on the opening round.

He is closely followed by Isaac Mariera who is a single shot behind the lead as the defending champion Stephen Katwiremu, Tony Kisadha and John Muchiri all scored 83 gross apiece.

For the ladies, the duo of Jenina Nasimolo and Edrae Kagombe scored 90 to take the joint lead, a shot over Catherine Pavie.

The seniors will complete the 36 holes on Friday, 23rd August 2024.
