Nam Blazers, UCU Canons Face Off in Semifinal Game One

Tuesday, September 16
*Nam Blazers Vs UCU Canons – 7pm
*City Oilers Vs Sommet – 9pm
Nam Blazers will be eyeing a perfect start to their National Basketball League (NBL) playoff semifinal series when they take on UCU Canons on Tuesday at the Indoor Arena in Lugogo.
The Blazers, who topped the log after the regular season, made light work of Rezlife Saints with a clean sweep in the quarterfinals to book their place in the last four.
UCU Canons, meanwhile, needed a decisive game three to edge Kampala Rockets and progress.
The semifinals are being played in a best-of-five format, with the first team to secure three victories advancing to the finals.
UCU Canons, under the tactical guidance of experienced coach Nicholas Natuhereza, will pose a real test to the Blazers’ title ambitions.
Natuhereza, who has steered the university side to two finals in 2015 and 2019, knows what it takes at this stage.
The two teams split their meetings in the regular season. The Blazers triumphed 80-70 in the first round before UCU ended their unbeaten run with a narrow 62-61 victory in June, underlining how tight the contest could be.
The Blazers will lean on their squad depth and experience. Their bench contributed 35 points in game two against Rezlife, a statistic that reflects their quality across the roster.
The presence of former City Oilers quartet Jimmy Enabu, James Okello, Tonny Drilleba, and Ivan Muhwezi brings championship pedigree that could prove decisive.
